Faces of Hall County: Sam CouvillonGainesville City Councilman Sam Couvillon had a goal to be able to do a flying toe touch on his 40th birthday and five years later he still can do a few, learning new dance moves and will be competing in theĀ 2016 Dancing for a Cause competition on Aug. 27.
Dancing for a Cause benefitsĀ theĀ Alliance for Literacy, Center Point, and Rape Response and Sam is paired withĀ Danielle Holland for the performance. Other notable local celebrities include LizĀ Coates and Doug Stewart, among others.
Sam, currently is an agent withĀ Turner Wood and Smith, grew up in Watkinsville and attended the University of Georgia. He is married to Margie and the couple have two beautiful daughters Sarah Grace (18) and Molly (14).

We recently caught up with Sam to find out a little more about Dancing for a Cause and his love for the Hall County community.
Question:Ā Who are some of the most interesting people you’ve met while living in Hall County?

Answer: “John Giradeau and Johnny Coyle, they selfless men who helped my mother-in-law look after my father in law during early stages of Alzheimers; Jacob Wilmont the Enota School Crossing Guard, Tom Bower is a excellent story teller and legendary Wofford Terrier.”

Q:Ā Ā If you could give a piece of advice to a crowd of people what would you say?
A:Ā “Get involved. Don’t be passive and watch things happen, get involved and help make things happen.”

Q:Ā What is your favorite thing about living and working in Hall County?

A:
“I love how we have generations of people who want to be involved in our community. (Jim Walters and Philip Wilheit,Ā Deborah Mack and Kit Dunlap,Ā Mimi Collins and Jimmy Adams, Brian Daniel and JImbo Floyd) Each of these folks give of their time volunteering on countless committees which helps move our community to be the progressive place that it is.Ā  No status quo for Gainesvillle/Hall County.

Q:Ā What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County and why?

A:
“Sweet Magnolias and 2 Dog.”

Ā How are you preparing for your routine for Dancing for a Cause and who is your partner?
A: “Relentless practice with my partner Danielle Holland and also by committing to the Dance-a-Thon at Tap It on Friday night.Ā  I will be in peak dancing condition!”
