One of the biggest pieces of advice Leslie Cooley has to offer is “to attempt those crazy dreams everyone has deep down inside.” Having her own clothing store has always been at the top of Leslie’s bucket list, and she recently took her own advice by opening Wool & Flax, a local women’s boutique that is timeless yet fashionable. Leslie is big on family and credits a lot her success to her husband’s support and encouragement. She is a mother to 17 month old, Carson and spends her free time reading, working out, and eating blizzards (ha!). We’d like to thank Leslie for taking time out of her busy schedule as a wife, mother, and business owner to sit down and answer some questions about herself and Hall County Georgia.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “I like clothes and I like women and opening my own clothing store was always a dream of mine.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “You’re going to think this is hilarious, but it has to be Five Guys. My regular is the double stacked cheeseburger.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “My whole life.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County?
A: “My husband, Dallas. I met him right after I graduated high school and we’ve been married 11 years now. He is the funniest person I know. He is quiet, but absolutely hysterical.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “Ireland. It just intrigues me, the geography is breathtaking, and I’ve never seen that part of the world. I really hope that I get to travel there at some point in my lifetime.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “101 Dalmatians.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Trust God’s plan for your life and sew into your relationships with friends and family.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “To pile my family into an RV and head out west to places like the Grand Canyon.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ 3 bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “Celine Dion, Adele, and Lionel Richie.”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “Inn Between, I remember going there frequently when I was a little girl.”
Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Where in Hall County would you go for this lunch?
A: “Katie Davis, the author of Kisses from Katie, I like to sit down and hear her story. She seems like one of the most compassionate, loving people on the planet. I’d take her to Senor Fiesta.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “Even though it is growing in size, it still feels small. I also like that we still stop when funeral processions are going by.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: “Being a content wife and mom, hopefully still running the store and just enjoying my life.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “Even though I am outgoing, I am introverted in a lot of ways. I don’t like big crowds.”
